Both usable and sculptural. Full dimensions; 74” wide x 14” to 19” deep and 15” seat height x 22.5” back rest height. The width of the top is spectacular and varies from 1.5” to 2” thick.
This antique bench or chaise was hand made in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility.
