103 x 54.5 x 3″ thick.
An ancient thick slab of teak wood which we sliced into two section and joined together to form this dramatic headboard, coffee table top or wall hanging. An impressive 103” at its widest section graduating down to 33” wide x 54.5” deep x 3” thick. As a coffee table top; 103” wide x 54.5” deep. Please inquire for a base/ legs. Finished with a natural oil revealing the beautiful wood grain. It’s all in the details.
This century old teak slab was sourced in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility. This kind of luxury is for a select few: The Emperor of Japan had a Wabi garden. Wabi is for people who already have a lot.
