23 x 23 x 6″ bevel height.
Beautiful architectural piece originally used as the base for a column. We found this antique hand carved teak base with a 6” wooden carved bevel and added a small 5″ x 5″ mirror where there was once a column. This can be used as a mirror or as a low base to place objects.
This antique column base was sourced in the spirit of wabi-sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility. This kind of luxury is for a select few: The Emperor of Japan had a wabi garden. Wabi is for people who already have a lot.
